Radley Gravel Pits 22nd July

Purple Emperor, an amazing record and a 1st for Radley I believe . A female was seen flying around the Sallows at the southern end of the pits between the reed fringed pond and the main railway line . The nearest wood is Lock Wood but I have no idea if they are in there!

1 Small Red Eyed Damselfly seen on Orchard lake resting on floating water weed.

5 Emperor Dragonfly including an ovipositing female

Ruddy Darter

Little Egret was seen in trees at the edge of orchard Lake and an Oystercatcher was heard flying over
